In order to thoroughly implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and comprehensively promote the “Seventh Five-Year Plan” for law promotion, the Bureau of Ecology and Environment of Huizhou City held the 2019 Special Campaign for Environmental Protection Law Promotion on 12 December 2019 with the theme of “launching pollution prevention and control campaign to safeguard enterprises’ healthy and sound development”. A total of more than 300 persons comprising leaders of the Bureau of Ecology and Environment of Huizhou City, representatives of township enterprises and major enterprises in Boluo County, social supervisors and representatives of Huizhou Longxi Environmental Electroplating Industrial Park participated in the event.

    During the event, representative of the Bureau of Ecology and Environment of Huizhou City called on enterprises to strengthen efforts to study new environmental laws and regulations and to enhance their awareness of pollution control, and expressed that the ecological environment departments at all levels in the city will continue to provide more support and services to enterprises, and will establish corporate communication and liaison mechanism so as to understand and resolve enterprises’ environmental protection appeals. In addition, the departments will reduce the frequency of supervision for companies with good track records of compliance, and will not interfere with law-abiding enterprises’ normal operation so that they can gain greater market competitive advantages, and will encourage, support and guide enterprises’ green development so as to join hands to win the pollution prevention and control campaign.

    This event was carried out in three sessions, namely environmental protection initiatives, lectures on special topics and consultation with experts. By displaying on-site promotion boards with analysis of typical cases, distributing promotional materials of laws and regulations, answering questions raised at the scene and organising special lectures on environmental laws, this event deepened enterprises’ understanding of environmental protection related laws and regulations, increased enterprises’ awareness of environmental protection laws and their environmental protection responsibilities, and guided enterprises to comply with laws in their decision-making, governance and operation, which is of great significance for Huizhou’s future economic development and environmental protection.
